NO OTHER NAME

2 Cor 4:16-18
Therefore we do not give up. Even though our outer person is being destroyed, our inner person is being renewed day by day. For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory. So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
I received an encouraging letter a while ago that really lives out the core theme of this song. “I was on mission...and I was hospitalised for over 3 weeks with typhoid with complications. We had very little internet but enough to download one song. I wanted something comforting, familiar and God focused so I asked my friend to play your song, "No Other Name". I just wanted to thank you for helping me see God in the hardest time of my life. When the doctors had tried medication after medication and my body did not respond, when my body was too weak to walk or even stand, when I was away from my family and church, I was able to see that God was my hope in the darkest night and that he was my joy. I was even able to encourage my nurses and doctors.”
For those who follow Jesus, so much of our lives will exist in the intersection of what we know is sure and the uncertainty of our current reality. We often don’t experience victory, joy and hope in the relief of suffering, sorrow and troubles, but in the midst of them. If our hope is anchored in Christ - His life, death, resurrection and soon return - and the new kingdom and reality that He has brought about, even when waves of circumstance take us through crests of happiness and troughs of despair, we can endure - and even have great joy - through the storms.
Praise God that the one ‘through whom we are redeemed’ is also ‘my broken soul’s delight’. There truly is no other name but Jesus!
