INTRODUCTION TO BIBLICAL MUSIC MINISTRY (Mike Begbie) What does the Bible say about God's purpose for the church and our singing? Every church musician needs to understand what we are doing when we sing and how that fits into God's bigger plan for his people. We'll also aim to apply the Biblical principles to your own experience and issues.
SONG LEADING (Nicci Waldock)
Many consider the song leader to be the single most important person in leading great congregational singing. We will look at the Biblical basis for having a song leader, but will aim to spend most of our time on the practicalities of how to lead singing well - including mic technique, what to say and how to make sure it all goes smoothly!
BAND ADMIN & WORKING WITH YOUR PASTOR (Dave Parker) While often hidden and less glamorous, the role of administration, communication, and planning is none the less vital in effective music ministry. This workshop will explore the process of song selection, song management, planning and integrating with church leadership. Using a real-life church example, we will navigate through the process, systems and tools that are easy to apply to any size church. Getting on top of the admin is often half the job!
SINGLE NOTE INSTRUMENTS (Philip Swadling) So…you play the flute, violin or another melody instrument. What is your role in the band? What if you ARE the band? This workshop session will assist you to use your talents and the strengths of your instrument to bring depth and variety to the music at your church.
PIANO & GUITAR (Rob Smith & Kester Lee) When a pianist and guitarist work together it’s a beautiful thing and can transform church music. Whether it’s just the two of you or you’re part of a bigger team, this workshop will start you on the journey of playing well with your cousin instrument.
