Philip heads up our day to day operations in Australia and the UK. Having been Music Director at St Ebbe's Oxford for 14 years, Philip loves helping Church musicians grow in their gifts to serve their church, and teaches the Bible and practical skills at conferences and seminars around the world. He is the author of Then Sings My Soul, a book about Biblical music ministry for every Christian. He also writes songs, and is perhaps best known for the music for Consider Christ and Never Alone. Philip studied music at Sydney University, theology at Moore Theological College, Sydney, has a Masters degree from Oxford University and is currently studying for a PhD in the biblical theology of worship.
Alanna has been a part of the Emu family for many years, most notably as a singer on many of our albums. Previously a church music director in Sydney and member of the band Garage Hymnal, she now lives in Oxford where she splits her time between working for Emu and being a mum. She has a Bachelor of Theology from Sydney Missionary Bible College and a Music Degree from Sydney University. Alanna has developed our new Word In Song online course as well as being a songwriter, song leader, graphic designer and trainer.
Liv hails from Sydney but has been living and working in Oxford, UK, since 2015. As a singer, songwriter, and staff member of Emu, Liv spends most of her time working on albums, creating content and resources for our training events, and supporting our Partners. She studied English and Ancient History at Sydney University, and, having recently finished studying Biblical theology part-time at Moore College, now serves as the music minister of St Ebbe's alongside her role with Emu.
Having been involved in Emu's ministry in the UK whilst an undergraduate studying History at Oxford University, Abi joined the Emu team as an intern, and then moved into a part-time staff role whilst also studying part-time for an MA in Early Modern History. She is developing resources to support churches with small or no music teams, working on a French album, and song-writing. She has a heart for engaging Christians with the history of songs, and the saints who have sung them over the years. Email Abi
Phil Chevassut // Intern
Phil is an undergraduate student studying Music at the University of Surrey who has joined the Emu Music team as an intern as part of his placement year. He will be aiding the Word in Song UK team, whilst also helping develop resources for churches with no or few musicians, providing online content, and developing his songwriting skills. He is keen to work to help followers of Jesus truly know and love the richness of God’s word through singing and music. Email Phil
Emilia Pickering // Intern Emilia has just finished an undergraduate degree in Music at King’s College London and has joined the Emu team as an intern this year. She is excited to work to equip churches practically to sing truths from the Bible to build up one another in Christ. She will be working on new resources for melody instruments for the Word in Song conferences, recording new songs and expanding her knowledge of music theology and its application in churches. Eddy has been part of the Emu family since the launch and start of TWIST in 2003. Eddy administers our conferences held across Australia. She brings to Emu an eye for strategic growth in training musicians in their ministry settings. Eddy is also a part-time chaplain at the Presbyterian Ladies College in Sydney.
Judith, an Australian musician living in Germany, began working with Emu in 2013 on projects to produce German resources. This ministry has grown and she now heads up a song translation team, mentors German songwriters and writes herself. Judith has also begun facilitating Word In Song conferences in German-speaking-Europe and the German translation of Word In Song Online. She is supported by the Church Missionary Society of Australia. Email Judith
Mike has been part of the Emu team for a few years as a songwriter and vocalist on some of our albums. He’s now joining the Word in Song team to help oversee the training content of the Word In Song conferences in Australia. He currently works as the Senior Minister at Hornsby Heights Anglican.
