Strengthening the church through song, together!

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:16-17)

The heart of any ministry must be the gospel itself and our singing is an essential place to get this right. Biblical singing mirrors God's ultimate purpose for the church: that Christ would dwell in the hearts of his people - that they might encourage each other in him and respond to God with genuine thanksgiving for all he has done for us.

When we gather together and sing the Gospel, we encourage Christians to discover what it is to be passionate, being driven by the Word in their response to Jesus  - firstly in song, but ultimately in their lives. Emu Music has spent over 10 years helping churches and church musicians ensure that the gospel is at the heart of any music ministry.  Our prayer is that God would use Christ centred singing to help re-shape a Christian culture that can often be passionless, emotionally extreme, or just plain worldly.

We are developing Word In Song Online!

We are currently working on an online music ministry course which will contain the best of Word In Song Conference - our highly regarded music ministry conference. It is designed for church musicians and teams to do as a stand alone training program or as a follow up to one of our actual conferences. But we need your help to make it happen. And you can help us by donating any amount here:* Add donation
*If you donate £50GBP / $100AUD or more, we will give you full access to the course on release!
If you have the ability to support this sort of funding in a more major way, or have any questions about this project, then please do get in touch here.
This is what the course will cover:
Part I
Session 1: An Introduction to Biblical Music Ministry (A look at God's purposes for singing in the church, focused on Col 3:16-17.)
Session 2: Engaging the Heart and the Mind (What is the place of emotion in our singing, and why it is important that the gospel captivates both heart and mind.)
Session 3: True Worship (We consider how the Bible unpacks worship to its fulfilment in Christ, and what that means for the church and our singing.)

Part II
Session 4: What songs should we sing (helping you think carefully about the themes and styles of songs for your church context)
Session 5: You are a song leader! (helping musicians to understand their role as facilitators of the primary instrument in our church: the congregation's voice!)
Session 6: Leading from: vocals, piano, guitar, bass, drums (instrument-specific modules that speak directly to their role in the band.)
